Key Takeaways

  • Online scripts allow you to access prescriptions without visiting a clinic.
  • Prescriptions are issued only if clinically appropriate after a telehealth consultation with a qualified doctor.
  • Online prescriptions use secure QR codes, reducing errors and removing the need for paper prescriptions.
  • The process supports both new and repeat telehealth prescriptions with simple online steps and fast delivery.
  • Our Australian-registered practitioners provide reliable, compliant care across the state and the rest of the country.

These days, requesting online scripts is a straightforward process thanks to easy access to healthcare support.

Much like a medical certificate for sick leave purposes, telehealth scripts are available based on clinical suitability. While some treatments are best managed through in-person consultations, there are many that can be managed online.

People want assurances that their online GP prescriptions are legitimate, fast and secure, especially when they’re already juggling busy schedules or managing health conditions that make it difficult to visit clinics in person.

MediLeave delivers this service with confidence. Dedicated to helping Australians across the nation, we offer telehealth consultations with practitioners who are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

With our platform, accessing requests for prescription scripts in QLD and anywhere in Australia is simple and secure, making us an ideal partner for anyone navigating their everyday healthcare needs.

Online scripts can support everyday health needs with convenience.

Online prescriptions provide a convenient way to access reliable healthcare without visiting a clinic, allowing you to manage repeat medications or minor health concerns from home. This includes prescriptions for blood pressure, antibiotics, hair loss treatment, migraine, contraceptive pill and many others.

This is because, through telehealth, you can receive timely medical advice without the need to travel. If deemed clinically appropriate by your consulting doctor, a fast GP prescription can be issued without the need to wait in queues or adjust your schedule.

Digital access to medical scripts in Australia also improves healthcare reach for people in regional or remote areas, ensuring location does not limit access to professional care.

Another benefit to telehealth is that eScripts reduce the risk of errors by providing clear, legible instructions. They remove the need for paper-based prescriptions, supporting a more efficient and environmentally conscious approach.

Overall, the freedom to request online scripts Australia-wide offers a practical, accessible solution for everyday healthcare needs.

Requesting online scripts is simple.

MediLeave has a simple process that lets you choose between a new script or a repeat prescription.

First, submit a request through our platform. You’ll be connected to an available doctor for an online consultation, where you can discuss new medications or adjustments to existing prescriptions, ensuring your care remains personalised and clinically appropriate.

If approved, your online GP scripts will then be sent digitally via SMS or email, using a secure QR code that you can present at your local pharmacy. All prescriptions issued by our doctors are accepted at your local pharmacy.

We provide access to quality healthcare support.

We make it easier to access reliable and affordable healthcare support online for quick doctor scripts, requests for a medical certificate for work and even blood test and specialist referrals. With just one platform, you can manage everyday health needs without switching between services or visiting a clinic, giving you a more efficient and straightforward way to stay on top of your care.

Whether you need new online scripts or just a renewal, you can connect with AHPRA-registered Australian doctors at any time, with consultations available day or night to suit your schedule. Furthermore, our practitioners provide personalised, clinically appropriate care based on your individual circumstances, offering advice that aligns with Australian healthcare standards.

Keep in mind that services are intended for everyday, non-emergency situations only. In case of concerns that pose an immediate threat, please call 000 or visit your nearest emergency department at once.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is it safe and private to request online scripts?

Through our platform, you can safely and privately request online scripts that pharmacists will accept, as well as referrals and even a medical certificate online 2 days into being sick, without any hassle.

We implement advanced security measures to safeguard your personal and medical information. These security systems are compliant with Australian privacy laws and are bolstered by robust 256-bit bank-grade encryption, adding a tough layer of protection for your data.

Do requests for online scripts include repeat prescriptions?

Repeat online doctor scripts in QLD and anywhere requested through our platform are issued only with a doctor’s approval.

If your medical history supports ongoing treatment and your condition is deemed suitable, a doctor can review your request and issue the medication you need. With each repeat dispensing of medication, your pharmacist will also send a new QR code. Keep this new message safe until your next medication refills.

Can I use online prescription services after hours or on weekends?

Yes, like our online pathology request service, you can make bookings and requests 24/7, including services like online scripts. Once you consult with a doctor and they approve it for issuance, it will be sent directly to your phone or email.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our telehealth services

At MediLeave, you can request instant scripts online at any time, as our bookings are available 24/7.

A doctor will review each request to assess the situation and determine whether a prescription or specialist referral online is clinically appropriate, ensuring that care remains safe, responsible and based on individual needs.

When requesting online prescriptions or eScripts in Australia, you will need to provide a few key details, such as your personal information and a short summary of your health concern or request.

It is also a requirement in Australia that, in order to receive an eScript, you must either have a Medicare number or an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). This is because your identity needs to be verified through the national healthcare system.

If you don’t have either of these, you can still have a telehealth consultation and receive a paper prescription instead.

Getting an IHI is the workaround if you want a digital prescription. You can still apply for an IHI online via myGov using an ID like a passport, even if you’re:

  • a visitor
  • an international student
  • not eligible for Medicare

Once you have an IHI, you can use eScripts like anyone else.

Even with access to the best online doctor Australia has to offer, script consultations are conducted privately on a one-on-one basis, ensuring a personal and discreet experience.

At MediLeave, users join a queue and receive a direct call from a doctor, allowing the discussion to remain confidential. All information provided is treated as personal and sensitive health data in line with Australian privacy laws.

To support data protection, we use 256-bit bank grade security and encryption to protect your personal and medical information throughout the consultation process.

For repeat prescriptions, your pharmacist will send you a new QR code after each repeat is dispensed. This happens until all the repeats are complete, so you will need to keep the new message until it’s time to get your medicine again.

If you accidentally delete a message with a QR code you will need to go back to your doctor to ask for a new eScript, just like you would if you lost a paper script.

Yes. Your details and script are kept private and secure through encryption (a secure way of sending information). Your script can only be ‘unlocked’ by a pharmacist.

Our team of Partner Doctors are fully registered Australian doctors who can prescribe any medication that is clinically appropriate for your needs. All our doctors follow AHPRA guidelines to ensure safe and responsible care.

Please note that some medications cannot be prescribed via a telehealth consultation such as S8 medications, controlled substances, narcotics or any controlled drugs and medications requiring close monitoring by a doctor. Our partner doctors reserve the right to decline prescribing any medication or refusing to provide Medical Certificates, based on their professional medical advice.

At MediLeave we uphold the highest standards of healthcare. Online Prescriptions will only be issued if deemed appropriate by our doctors.

There are various reasons why you may be declined access for a prescription, and the doctor has the authority to decline your request if they determine that it is not in your best interest or suitable for your condition. Other reasons could be due to contraindications, your medical history or the absence of a definitive diagnosis. In such circumstances, the doctor will recommend an alternative treatment that is better suited to you or recommend that you seek further assistance and advice in person.

1. First of all, check with the doctor that they have your correct details- a typo on your phone number or email can create this problem. Sometimes there might have been an issue with internet/ wi-fi connection at the moment the eScript was sent, and it might take a few minutes to come through to you.

2. If it still does not arrive, the doctor can double check on their side to see if there was an issue with sending it (this can happen if there is a problem with a person’s Medicare details or “IHI” number (individual health identifier).

3. If the issue still persists the doctor may try to “re-send” it to you, and see if that works.

4. If this still fails, please email our team : info@medileave.com.au for assistance.

Yes, most community pharmacies accept electronic prescriptions (escripts) An eScript is a digital version of a paper script, which the doctor sends you to your phone/email as a QR code or token. Whilst most pharmacies accept and can process escripts, it is best to check with the pharmacy if they are able to accept escripts as some small pharmacies, for example, may not be equipped to process escripts yet.

Yes, if you are a carer or guardian, although the patient needs to provide their consent to the doctor.

Our Partner Doctors cannot prescribe Schedule 8 (S8) or Schedule 4D (S4D) medications via telehealth.

Once the doctor approves your prescription during your consultation, the script is sent instantly via sms or email to you, within minutes
