How do eScripts work?

Getting your medication has never been easier. Here’s how our digital prescription system works.

Receive Your eScript

Instead of handing you a paper script, your doctor sends you a text message or email containing a link to a unique QR code, or token.

1

Show at Any Pharmacy

Your pharmacist scans the QR code on your phone (or tablet) to retrieve the details of your script and fill your medication.

2

Benefits of using eScripts

Never Lose a Script

No need to worry about lost paper. Your script arrives instantly via SMS or email, always accessible on your phone.

Instant Telehealth Delivery

Perfect for telehealth consultations. Receive your medication script instantly without needing to visit a clinic in person.

Environmentally Friendly

Going digital reduces paper waste, making eScripts a greener choice for you and the planet.

Learn more about GP Online Prescription

If illness, caring obligations or urgent leave occur, you usually need a simple way to arrange healthcare support that minimises disruption to work, family or study commitments. Being stuck in a waiting room or trying to schedule an in-person visit can feel impractical when you need documentation promptly. Uncertainty can also cause hesitation, and you want reassurance that the consultation or service is professional and high-quality, that your certificate will be accepted and that your privacy is protected. This is where MediLeave makes a difference. We make it easier to save time and money, as we're made for people who value straightforward, reliable and convenient care. We provide access to everyday, non-emergency telehealth support and compliant medical documentation through Australian-registered practitioners operating in line with RACGP and AHPRA standards, making it easy to connect with a doctor online. Our platform is built for actual life, whether you are at home, in the office, or managing duties in rural or remote locations. Prioritising accessibility and inclusivity, we help people managing busy lives, mobility issues or limited local healthcare options receive care more flexibly. So, whether you're searching for "Gp Online Prescription" or "Doctors That Do Telehealth", we help make professional support more dependable and available when you need it.

With MediLeave, we've made it easy to request online prescriptions, repeat scripts or adjustments online, so you don't have to take time out of your packed schedule. With this, an eScript can be sent straight to your phone within minutes, ready for use at your local pharmacy. Alongside prescription requests, you can book telehealth consultations for practical advice or treatment plans. Experienced doctors, pharmacists and nurses are available by phone or video consultation. The service works as an alternative for in-person appointments, particularly for those wanting advice, treatment guidance or referrals without having to travel to a clinic. Our process is designed for busy schedules, whether you're managing cold and flu symptoms, contraception needs, hayfever and allergy flare-ups or other conditions. Plus, we can help you secure medical certificates that meet workplace, education or carer's leave requirements, all with a 100% money back guarantee if your request is not approved. If you're planning to travel, our platform is also well-suited to help you find personalised medical advice on preventing diseases and to arrange vaccine eScripts for common travel-related diseases. We focus on giving you fast access to medication and documentation, supporting you if you were searching for "Gp Online Prescription". This same ease applies when you're browsing for "Find Telehealth Doctor" or "Medical Telehealth".

You can get started by submitting your online request as it fits your schedule. Afterwards, local Australian practitioners will assess your details, and if approved, deliver your certificate, script or consultation outcome straight to your phone. Same-day telehealth appointments are available from 7am to 11pm AEST daily, and evenings or weekend bookings do not require extra fees. You can easily join the queue, and a doctor will call you during your chosen time slot to keep things efficient and smooth. Our secure platform also uses 256-bit bank-grade encryption to protect your personal and medical information. In addition to this, our flat-fee pricing means you know what to expect up front, making healthcare access more affordable than many out-of-pocket clinic visits. Help is on hand via email or phone if you need guidance, which means our team is ready to answer the general questions you may have surrounding "Doctor Prescription" or "After Hours Moe". Regardless of which service you need from us, our platform is made for simple use, even as you research more about "medical certificate online 2 days" or "online sick certificate". Please note our service is not intended for urgent medical emergencies, and that you should go to the nearest emergency department or call 000 right away in such situations. Otherwise, book a telehealth consult today.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our telehealth services

At MediLeave, you can request instant scripts online at any time, as our bookings are available 24/7.

A doctor will review each request to assess the situation and determine whether a prescription or specialist referral online is clinically appropriate, ensuring that care remains safe, responsible and based on individual needs.

When requesting online prescriptions or eScripts in Australia, you will need to provide a few key details, such as your personal information and a short summary of your health concern or request.

It is also a requirement in Australia that, in order to receive an eScript, you must either have a Medicare number or an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). This is because your identity needs to be verified through the national healthcare system.

If you don’t have either of these, you can still have a telehealth consultation and receive a paper prescription instead.

Getting an IHI is the workaround if you want a digital prescription. You can still apply for an IHI online via myGov using an ID like a passport, even if you’re:

  • a visitor
  • an international student
  • not eligible for Medicare

Once you have an IHI, you can use eScripts like anyone else.

Even with access to the best online doctor Australia has to offer, script consultations are conducted privately on a one-on-one basis, ensuring a personal and discreet experience.

At MediLeave, users join a queue and receive a direct call from a doctor, allowing the discussion to remain confidential. All information provided is treated as personal and sensitive health data in line with Australian privacy laws.

To support data protection, we use 256-bit bank grade security and encryption to protect your personal and medical information throughout the consultation process.

For repeat prescriptions, your pharmacist will send you a new QR code after each repeat is dispensed. This happens until all the repeats are complete, so you will need to keep the new message until it’s time to get your medicine again.

If you accidentally delete a message with a QR code you will need to go back to your doctor to ask for a new eScript, just like you would if you lost a paper script.

Yes. Your details and script are kept private and secure through encryption (a secure way of sending information). Your script can only be ‘unlocked’ by a pharmacist.

Our team of Partner Doctors are fully registered Australian doctors who can prescribe any medication that is clinically appropriate for your needs. All our doctors follow AHPRA guidelines to ensure safe and responsible care.

Please note that some medications cannot be prescribed via a telehealth consultation such as S8 medications, controlled substances, narcotics or any controlled drugs and medications requiring close monitoring by a doctor. Our partner doctors reserve the right to decline prescribing any medication or refusing to provide Medical Certificates, based on their professional medical advice.

At MediLeave we uphold the highest standards of healthcare. Online Prescriptions will only be issued if deemed appropriate by our doctors.

There are various reasons why you may be declined access for a prescription, and the doctor has the authority to decline your request if they determine that it is not in your best interest or suitable for your condition. Other reasons could be due to contraindications, your medical history or the absence of a definitive diagnosis. In such circumstances, the doctor will recommend an alternative treatment that is better suited to you or recommend that you seek further assistance and advice in person.

1. First of all, check with the doctor that they have your correct details- a typo on your phone number or email can create this problem. Sometimes there might have been an issue with internet/ wi-fi connection at the moment the eScript was sent, and it might take a few minutes to come through to you.

2. If it still does not arrive, the doctor can double check on their side to see if there was an issue with sending it (this can happen if there is a problem with a person’s Medicare details or “IHI” number (individual health identifier).

3. If the issue still persists the doctor may try to “re-send” it to you, and see if that works.

4. If this still fails, please email our team : info@medileave.com.au for assistance.

Yes, most community pharmacies accept electronic prescriptions (escripts) An eScript is a digital version of a paper script, which the doctor sends you to your phone/email as a QR code or token. Whilst most pharmacies accept and can process escripts, it is best to check with the pharmacy if they are able to accept escripts as some small pharmacies, for example, may not be equipped to process escripts yet.

Yes, if you are a carer or guardian, although the patient needs to provide their consent to the doctor.

Our Partner Doctors cannot prescribe Schedule 8 (S8) or Schedule 4D (S4D) medications via telehealth.

Once the doctor approves your prescription during your consultation, the script is sent instantly via sms or email to you, within minutes
