How do eScripts work?

Getting your medication has never been easier. Here’s how our digital prescription system works.

Receive Your eScript

Instead of handing you a paper script, your doctor sends you a text message or email containing a link to a unique QR code, or token.

1

Show at Any Pharmacy

Your pharmacist scans the QR code on your phone (or tablet) to retrieve the details of your script and fill your medication.

2

Learn more about Prescription In Australia

If you're feeling sick, looking after someone or organising urgent leave, it can be tough to find a fast, trustworthy healthcare service. Last-minute GP appointments and waiting rooms rarely align with the demands of work, study or family responsibilities. Without having to worry about whether your privacy is safe or the service is professional, you want reassurance that any certificate or advice you get meets your employer's or university's expected standards and Australian medical guidelines. This is where MediLeave steps in, pairing you with experienced Australian practitioners who observe RACGP and AHPRA standards and the documentation guidelines expected in a compliant local practice. Telehealth allows you to consult with a doctor online without needing to attend a clinic in person. Our way of working keeps things reliable and clear, with every interaction aimed at the goal of bridging the gap between accessible, affordable healthcare and everyday people. No matter if you're at home, at your desk or anywhere in between, you can look forward to a clear and professional experience centred on accessibility. We are here for Australians seeking the confidence of legitimate telehealth support, offered with integrity and a practical sense of what matters most. So, no matter if you're looking up "Online Doctor With Prescription" or "Prescription In Australia", you can count on us.

Being able to reach a doctor, pharmacist or nurse from anywhere really helps those who can't risk waiting for paperwork or treatment. MediLeave gives you flexible access to telehealth consultations via phone or video, so you can discuss concerns like cold and flu symptoms, urinary tract infections, or contraception and birth control with experienced practitioners at a time that suits you. Thanks to this, you get advice or treatment guidance without having to visit a clinic in person. And if you need medical certificates for work, school, university or carer's leave, we can issue them in a format designed to meet workplace and institutional expectations. You can also request new online prescriptions, repeats or medication adjustments, with eScripts sent to your phone, allowing you to use them at your local pharmacy. For travel plans, our practitioners offer tailored advice on disease prevention, as well as provide prescriptions or vaccine eScripts if needed. Everything is done online, so you stay in control and get what you need with minimal disruption, even while you're looking into "Prescription In Australia", "Online Yeast Infection Prescription", "Prescription Ordering Online" and related matters.

You can access quality healthcare support through MediLeave without putting your day-to-day schedule on hold. There is no longer any need to book an appointment or visit a clinic in person because requests can be submitted online 24/7. To help you manage personal, work or study obligations, medical certificate requests are often processed in as little as 60 minutes. Doctors are available for same-day telehealth appointments daily from 7am to 11pm AEST; with no added costs for weekends or after-hours services, all you need to do is join the queue and wait for a doctor to call within your chosen time slot. The platform also offers a simple, easy-to-navigate interface that guides telehealth users through the process while reducing confusion. With 256-bit bank-grade encryption helping to protect your data and straightforward flat-fee pricing, our services remain both accessible and affordable. If you have any questions regarding "Vietnam Travel Vaccines" or "Cambodia Travel Vaccinations", feel free to contact us via phone or email for assistance. MediLeave is for everyday, non-emergency healthcare needs only, and you may ask us about topics related to "online doctor australia" or "online prescriptions", but for urgent medical attention, you must contact your nearest emergency department or call 000. Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our telehealth services

At MediLeave, you can request instant scripts online at any time, as our bookings are available 24/7.

A doctor will review each request to assess the situation and determine whether a prescription or specialist referral online is clinically appropriate, ensuring that care remains safe, responsible and based on individual needs.

When requesting online prescriptions or eScripts in Australia, you will need to provide a few key details, such as your personal information and a short summary of your health concern or request.

It is also a requirement in Australia that, in order to receive an eScript, you must either have a Medicare number or an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). This is because your identity needs to be verified through the national healthcare system.

If you don’t have either of these, you can still have a telehealth consultation and receive a paper prescription instead.

Getting an IHI is the workaround if you want a digital prescription. You can still apply for an IHI online via myGov using an ID like a passport, even if you’re:

  • a visitor
  • an international student
  • not eligible for Medicare

Once you have an IHI, you can use eScripts like anyone else.

Even with access to the best online doctor Australia has to offer, script consultations are conducted privately on a one-on-one basis, ensuring a personal and discreet experience.

At MediLeave, users join a queue and receive a direct call from a doctor, allowing the discussion to remain confidential. All information provided is treated as personal and sensitive health data in line with Australian privacy laws.

To support data protection, we use 256-bit bank grade security and encryption to protect your personal and medical information throughout the consultation process.

For repeat prescriptions, your pharmacist will send you a new QR code after each repeat is dispensed. This happens until all the repeats are complete, so you will need to keep the new message until it’s time to get your medicine again.

If you accidentally delete a message with a QR code you will need to go back to your doctor to ask for a new eScript, just like you would if you lost a paper script.

Yes. Your details and script are kept private and secure through encryption (a secure way of sending information). Your script can only be ‘unlocked’ by a pharmacist.

Our team of Partner Doctors are fully registered Australian doctors who can prescribe any medication that is clinically appropriate for your needs. All our doctors follow AHPRA guidelines to ensure safe and responsible care.

Please note that some medications cannot be prescribed via a telehealth consultation such as S8 medications, controlled substances, narcotics or any controlled drugs and medications requiring close monitoring by a doctor. Our partner doctors reserve the right to decline prescribing any medication or refusing to provide Medical Certificates, based on their professional medical advice.

At MediLeave we uphold the highest standards of healthcare. Online Prescriptions will only be issued if deemed appropriate by our doctors.

There are various reasons why you may be declined access for a prescription, and the doctor has the authority to decline your request if they determine that it is not in your best interest or suitable for your condition. Other reasons could be due to contraindications, your medical history or the absence of a definitive diagnosis. In such circumstances, the doctor will recommend an alternative treatment that is better suited to you or recommend that you seek further assistance and advice in person.

1. First of all, check with the doctor that they have your correct details- a typo on your phone number or email can create this problem. Sometimes there might have been an issue with internet/ wi-fi connection at the moment the eScript was sent, and it might take a few minutes to come through to you.

2. If it still does not arrive, the doctor can double check on their side to see if there was an issue with sending it (this can happen if there is a problem with a person’s Medicare details or “IHI” number (individual health identifier).

3. If the issue still persists the doctor may try to “re-send” it to you, and see if that works.

4. If this still fails, please email our team : info@medileave.com.au for assistance.

Yes, most community pharmacies accept electronic prescriptions (escripts) An eScript is a digital version of a paper script, which the doctor sends you to your phone/email as a QR code or token. Whilst most pharmacies accept and can process escripts, it is best to check with the pharmacy if they are able to accept escripts as some small pharmacies, for example, may not be equipped to process escripts yet.

Yes, if you are a carer or guardian, although the patient needs to provide their consent to the doctor.

Our Partner Doctors cannot prescribe Schedule 8 (S8) or Schedule 4D (S4D) medications via telehealth.

Once the doctor approves your prescription during your consultation, the script is sent instantly via sms or email to you, within minutes
