How do eScripts work?

Getting your medication has never been easier. Here’s how our digital prescription system works.

Receive Your eScript

Show at Any Pharmacy

Your pharmacist scans the QR code on your phone (or tablet) to retrieve the details of your script and fill your medication.

2

Learn more about Online Pill Prescription

If you're sick, caring for another person or organising an urgent leave, accessing healthcare shouldn't disrupt your routine or pause your responsibilities. Our team understands that time pressure often makes the traditional route feel impractical, particularly when you need documentation quickly. Feeling uncertain can add extra stress, and you want the assurance that the service is legitimate and that your documentation satisfies employer or university requirements. This is the reason MediLeave helps Australians who are looking for professional, accessible support for everyday, non-emergency concerns and compliant medical documentation. You get the trusted support you need on our telehealth platform, as it connects you to Australian-registered practitioners operating in accordance with RACGP and AHPRA standards. We focus on making healthcare more inclusive, removing barriers for people in rural or remote areas, those with mobility limitations or anyone with a demanding schedule who needs to consult a doctor online. Whether you're at home, at work or on the move anywhere in Australia, we've designed the platform to reduce disruption and help you access care that suits your life. With us, you get dependable, efficient support that keeps your needs at the centre, no matter if you're researching "Online Pill Prescription" or other topics.

When quick, practical medication support matters, we provide a reliable way to request online prescriptions or eScripts without in-person appointments or unnecessary delays. If you're seeking a new script, a repeat prescription or a medication adjustment, the request can be completed entirely online through clear step-by-step prompts reviewed by experienced practitioners. Following approval, your online prescription or eScript can be sent to your phone within minutes, ready to use at a local pharmacy. This option is especially useful for people managing ongoing conditions or addressing concerns such as gastro, erectile dysfunction, rashes or hair loss. If your needs extend beyond medication, you may receive treatment advice or blood tests and specialist referrals via MediLeave's telehealth consultations with doctors, pharmacists and nurses. Requests for medical certificates for work, school, university or carer's leave are similarly accessible through the same platform and are designed to meet Australian medical guidelines and regulatory standards that institutions and employers recognise. For extra reassurance, requests that aren't approved are backed by a 100% money back guarantee. Plus, you can access an online doctor who can evaluate your travel arrangements and offer targeted medical advice on disease prevention and more. With this approach, we can help you manage everyday healthcare needs more confidently, whether you're searching for "Online Doctors For Prescriptions" or "Online Ear Infection Prescription".

No matter how busy your day is, our service keeps your experience streamlined. You can send a request online whenever it suits you, and a qualified Australian practitioner will check your information and respond with care and clarity. Once approved, the consultation outcome or documentation will be delivered to your phone by SMS or email. The process for obtaining medical certificates is quick, with most requests reviewed and finalised within 60 minutes on average. In line with this, we offer telehealth appointments from 7am to 11pm AEST, 7 days a week, letting you join the queue and take a call from a doctor at your convenience. We take your privacy seriously as well, so MediLeave uses 256-bit bank-grade encryption to safeguard your personal and medical details. And our flat-fee pricing ensures costs are clear, making online care cost-effective. If you ever need a hand, support is ready by phone or email, and our team is standing by to answer your questions about "Blood Test Uec" or "Vaccination Requirements For Travel To Turkey". However, note that our services are for everyday, non-emergency needs, so for urgent health matters, you should call 000 or visit your nearest emergency department; otherwise, whether you were looking up "instant scripts online" or "electronic prescription service", speak to a doctor now.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our telehealth services

At MediLeave, you can request instant scripts online at any time, as our bookings are available 24/7.

A doctor will review each request to assess the situation and determine whether a prescription or specialist referral online is clinically appropriate, ensuring that care remains safe, responsible and based on individual needs.

When requesting online prescriptions or eScripts in Australia, you will need to provide a few key details, such as your personal information and a short summary of your health concern or request.

It is also a requirement in Australia that, in order to receive an eScript, you must either have a Medicare number or an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). This is because your identity needs to be verified through the national healthcare system.

If you don’t have either of these, you can still have a telehealth consultation and receive a paper prescription instead.

Getting an IHI is the workaround if you want a digital prescription. You can still apply for an IHI online via myGov using an ID like a passport, even if you’re:

  • a visitor
  • an international student
  • not eligible for Medicare

Once you have an IHI, you can use eScripts like anyone else.

Even with access to the best online doctor Australia has to offer, script consultations are conducted privately on a one-on-one basis, ensuring a personal and discreet experience.

At MediLeave, users join a queue and receive a direct call from a doctor, allowing the discussion to remain confidential. All information provided is treated as personal and sensitive health data in line with Australian privacy laws.

To support data protection, we use 256-bit bank grade security and encryption to protect your personal and medical information throughout the consultation process.

For repeat prescriptions, your pharmacist will send you a new QR code after each repeat is dispensed. This happens until all the repeats are complete, so you will need to keep the new message until it’s time to get your medicine again.

If you accidentally delete a message with a QR code you will need to go back to your doctor to ask for a new eScript, just like you would if you lost a paper script.

Yes. Your details and script are kept private and secure through encryption (a secure way of sending information). Your script can only be ‘unlocked’ by a pharmacist.

Our team of Partner Doctors are fully registered Australian doctors who can prescribe any medication that is clinically appropriate for your needs. All our doctors follow AHPRA guidelines to ensure safe and responsible care.

Please note that some medications cannot be prescribed via a telehealth consultation such as S8 medications, controlled substances, narcotics or any controlled drugs and medications requiring close monitoring by a doctor. Our partner doctors reserve the right to decline prescribing any medication or refusing to provide Medical Certificates, based on their professional medical advice.

At MediLeave we uphold the highest standards of healthcare. Online Prescriptions will only be issued if deemed appropriate by our doctors.

There are various reasons why you may be declined access for a prescription, and the doctor has the authority to decline your request if they determine that it is not in your best interest or suitable for your condition. Other reasons could be due to contraindications, your medical history or the absence of a definitive diagnosis. In such circumstances, the doctor will recommend an alternative treatment that is better suited to you or recommend that you seek further assistance and advice in person.

1. First of all, check with the doctor that they have your correct details- a typo on your phone number or email can create this problem. Sometimes there might have been an issue with internet/ wi-fi connection at the moment the eScript was sent, and it might take a few minutes to come through to you.

2. If it still does not arrive, the doctor can double check on their side to see if there was an issue with sending it (this can happen if there is a problem with a person’s Medicare details or “IHI” number (individual health identifier).

3. If the issue still persists the doctor may try to “re-send” it to you, and see if that works.

4. If this still fails, please email our team : info@medileave.com.au for assistance.

Yes, most community pharmacies accept electronic prescriptions (escripts) An eScript is a digital version of a paper script, which the doctor sends you to your phone/email as a QR code or token. Whilst most pharmacies accept and can process escripts, it is best to check with the pharmacy if they are able to accept escripts as some small pharmacies, for example, may not be equipped to process escripts yet.

Yes, if you are a carer or guardian, although the patient needs to provide their consent to the doctor.

Our Partner Doctors cannot prescribe Schedule 8 (S8) or Schedule 4D (S4D) medications via telehealth.

Once the doctor approves your prescription during your consultation, the script is sent instantly via sms or email to you, within minutes
