How do eScripts work?

Getting your medication has never been easier. Here’s how our digital prescription system works.

Receive Your eScript

Instead of handing you a paper script, your doctor sends you a text message or email containing a link to a unique QR code, or token.

1

Show at Any Pharmacy

Your pharmacist scans the QR code on your phone (or tablet) to retrieve the details of your script and fill your medication.

2

Benefits of using eScripts

No need to worry about lost paper. Your script arrives instantly via SMS or email, always accessible on your phone.

Instant Telehealth Delivery

Perfect for telehealth consultations. Receive your medication script instantly without needing to visit a clinic in person.

Learn more about Prescription Australia

When an illness, caring duties or an urgent need to organise time away comes up, you don't want any more disturbances. Time in waiting rooms, travel and shifting schedules can make an otherwise small request feel overwhelming, particularly when you're already juggling work, study or family demands. Online options are available, but most of us share the same concerns: Is this service trustworthy, will my documentation be accepted, and will my privacy be respected? MediLeave is designed to meet these needs with professional, practical services for real-world situations. Through us, you can access Australian-registered practitioners on a secure telehealth platform, helping you get everyday non-emergency care and needed medical documentation promptly and confidently. Our approach is clear and straightforward for those who need to consult with a doctor online so they can remotely assess your symptoms, offer medical advice and plan for treatment. Whether you live in a metro area, reside in a rural location or just need a flexible option to suit your schedule, our platform is set up to reduce the limitations to access. This convenient approach can also help those with mobility difficulties and other similar challenges. We're here to help you sort out your everyday healthcare needs efficiently and reliably, whether you've been researching "Prescription Australia" or "Order Scripts Online".

If you need medical documentation for work, study or carer's leave, you need a service that's reliable and fast. As such, MediLeave makes it simple to request certified online medical certificates, sometimes called doctor's certificates or sick notes, in a format designed to meet workplace and institutional expectations. To give you confidence, we offer a 100% money back guarantee if the practitioner doesn't approve your request, removing your financial risk. For times when you need more support beyond documents, our platform also provides access to telehealth consultations with doctors, pharmacists and nurses. Our practitioners can help with everyday problems such as acid reflux and heartburn, erectile dysfunction and hair loss treatment. If you need a referral or travel health advice, they can also help guide you through the process. If required, you may even request online prescriptions, including new or repeat scripts, with eScripts sent directly to your phone for collection at a pharmacy. No matter if you've been searching for "Prescription Australia" or want to learn more about options related to "Online Steroid Prescription" or "Online Viagra Prescription Australia", we focus on making day-to-day healthcare needs simple, fast and reliable for you.

We've designed every step on our platform for speed and reliability, so you can submit your request online any time without booking a traditional appointment or needing to set foot in a clinic. After a qualified Australian practitioner checks your details, they will provide your certificate, prescription or consultation outcome digitally if approved, sent to your email or SMS directly to your phone. You can request medical certificates any time, and they are processed in only 60 minutes on average, helping you manage when and how you access support. Additionally, we let you access same-day telehealth appointments between 7am and 11pm AEST, 7 days a week, with no additional fees for after-hours or weekends. Since we secure your personal and medical data with 256-bit bank-grade encryption, you can keep focusing on your health as well. On top of this, help is available by phone or email if you need it, such as when you have questions about "Medical Certificate Cheap" or "Biochemistry Blood Test". The same level of convenience applies when you have general enquiries related to "online prescriptions" or "medical certificate for sick leave"; however, remember that our platform isn't designed for urgent healthcare needs, and for such emergencies, you should go to your nearest emergency department or call 000. Book a telehealth consult now for routine health concerns.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our telehealth services

At MediLeave, you can request instant scripts online at any time, as our bookings are available 24/7.

A doctor will review each request to assess the situation and determine whether a prescription or specialist referral online is clinically appropriate, ensuring that care remains safe, responsible and based on individual needs.

When requesting online prescriptions or eScripts in Australia, you will need to provide a few key details, such as your personal information and a short summary of your health concern or request.

It is also a requirement in Australia that, in order to receive an eScript, you must either have a Medicare number or an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). This is because your identity needs to be verified through the national healthcare system.

If you don’t have either of these, you can still have a telehealth consultation and receive a paper prescription instead.

Getting an IHI is the workaround if you want a digital prescription. You can still apply for an IHI online via myGov using an ID like a passport, even if you’re:

  • a visitor
  • an international student
  • not eligible for Medicare

Once you have an IHI, you can use eScripts like anyone else.

Even with access to the best online doctor Australia has to offer, script consultations are conducted privately on a one-on-one basis, ensuring a personal and discreet experience.

At MediLeave, users join a queue and receive a direct call from a doctor, allowing the discussion to remain confidential. All information provided is treated as personal and sensitive health data in line with Australian privacy laws.

To support data protection, we use 256-bit bank grade security and encryption to protect your personal and medical information throughout the consultation process.

For repeat prescriptions, your pharmacist will send you a new QR code after each repeat is dispensed. This happens until all the repeats are complete, so you will need to keep the new message until it’s time to get your medicine again.

If you accidentally delete a message with a QR code you will need to go back to your doctor to ask for a new eScript, just like you would if you lost a paper script.

Yes. Your details and script are kept private and secure through encryption (a secure way of sending information). Your script can only be ‘unlocked’ by a pharmacist.

Our team of Partner Doctors are fully registered Australian doctors who can prescribe any medication that is clinically appropriate for your needs. All our doctors follow AHPRA guidelines to ensure safe and responsible care.

Please note that some medications cannot be prescribed via a telehealth consultation such as S8 medications, controlled substances, narcotics or any controlled drugs and medications requiring close monitoring by a doctor. Our partner doctors reserve the right to decline prescribing any medication or refusing to provide Medical Certificates, based on their professional medical advice.

At MediLeave we uphold the highest standards of healthcare. Online Prescriptions will only be issued if deemed appropriate by our doctors.

There are various reasons why you may be declined access for a prescription, and the doctor has the authority to decline your request if they determine that it is not in your best interest or suitable for your condition. Other reasons could be due to contraindications, your medical history or the absence of a definitive diagnosis. In such circumstances, the doctor will recommend an alternative treatment that is better suited to you or recommend that you seek further assistance and advice in person.

1. First of all, check with the doctor that they have your correct details- a typo on your phone number or email can create this problem. Sometimes there might have been an issue with internet/ wi-fi connection at the moment the eScript was sent, and it might take a few minutes to come through to you.

2. If it still does not arrive, the doctor can double check on their side to see if there was an issue with sending it (this can happen if there is a problem with a person’s Medicare details or “IHI” number (individual health identifier).

3. If the issue still persists the doctor may try to “re-send” it to you, and see if that works.

4. If this still fails, please email our team : info@medileave.com.au for assistance.

Yes, most community pharmacies accept electronic prescriptions (escripts) An eScript is a digital version of a paper script, which the doctor sends you to your phone/email as a QR code or token. Whilst most pharmacies accept and can process escripts, it is best to check with the pharmacy if they are able to accept escripts as some small pharmacies, for example, may not be equipped to process escripts yet.

Yes, if you are a carer or guardian, although the patient needs to provide their consent to the doctor.

Our Partner Doctors cannot prescribe Schedule 8 (S8) or Schedule 4D (S4D) medications via telehealth.

Once the doctor approves your prescription during your consultation, the script is sent instantly via sms or email to you, within minutes
