How do eScripts work?

Getting your medication has never been easier. Here’s how our digital prescription system works.

Receive Your eScript

Instead of handing you a paper script, your doctor sends you a text message or email containing a link to a unique QR code, or token.

1

Show at Any Pharmacy

Your pharmacist scans the QR code on your phone (or tablet) to retrieve the details of your script and fill your medication.

2

Benefits of using eScripts

Never Lose a Script

No need to worry about lost paper. Your script arrives instantly via SMS or email, always accessible on your phone.

Instant Telehealth Delivery

Perfect for telehealth consultations. Receive your medication script instantly without needing to visit a clinic in person.

Environmentally Friendly

Learn more about Order Scripts Online

When you're ill or need a last-minute leave, you want quality healthcare without lengthy waiting or having to visit a clinic in person. Online services can be a convenient choice, as long as you're confident that they are legitimate, straightforward and professional. That's typically a reliable option whenever your university or employer needs documentation. MediLeave provides a direct connection to Australian-registered practitioners, ensuring care is delivered in accordance with RACGP and AHPRA requirements. Your request is managed with careful attention, reliable oversight and professional care, giving you assurance that it is being handled properly every step of the way. Our platform connects you to affordable, accessible healthcare, guiding you through every step with support from qualified professionals. Whether you're in a city office, working from home or based in a rural area, you can conveniently connect with a doctor online. We keep things practical, measured and transparent, so you don't have to rearrange your schedule or go through traditional clinic processes when you want to speak with a trusted practitioner or are looking into "Order Scripts Online". Alongside serving people in different locations, MediLeave is designed to support those with mobility concerns.

MediLeave offers a straightforward online service if you need medical documentation quickly, helping you manage the paperwork effortlessly. We've built the process so you can request online prescriptions or eScripts, as well as repeat scripts and medication adjustments, so you won't have to worry about unnecessary steps or time lost. Your eScript is then delivered to your phone within minutes, and you can take it to a local pharmacy for use. For those who need to speak to a doctor, telehealth consultations with practitioners, pharmacists and nurses are available for advice on common concerns, whether it's related to contraception and birth control, UTIs, or cold and flu symptoms. Medical certificates for work, study or carer's leave are also available online and designed to meet employer and education requirements. Our medical certificates include a 100% money back guarantee if your request isn't approved, making it easier to trust the service when you need it. You can move quickly since every step is arranged to provide practical support. Plus, you can manage everyday healthcare needs entirely online, and our streamlined process can help when your search history includes "Order Medicine Online With Prescription", "Prescription Australia" or beyond.

Take control of the process through our platform and submit your request for a medical certificate. Once your request is submitted, a qualified Australian practitioner will evaluate your shared information. If your request is approved, you can receive your certificate, eScript or consultation outcomes directly on your phone through SMS or email, often within 60 minutes on average for medical certificates. In addition, we make access simple and flexible: medical certificate requests are accepted 24/7, so you can submit a request whenever you need it. If you need to speak with a doctor, same-day telehealth appointments run daily from 7am to 11pm AEST, without extra fees even on weekends and after-hours. On top of this, if you've been researching "After Hours Doctor" or "After Hours Gp Armadale", there are no waiting rooms or scheduling constraints, with us adding another layer of convenience. Additionally, your privacy, security and budget matter to us, which is why we protect information with bank-grade encryption and keep pricing fixed and clear. If you ever need help, you can reach our support team by email or phone, be it about "online pathology request" or "blood test referral online". Please take note that MediLeave is for non-emergency and everyday care needs; for urgent help, please call 000 or visit your closest emergency department. Likewise, if you have other concerns, arrange a telehealth consult today.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our telehealth services

At MediLeave, you can request instant scripts online at any time, as our bookings are available 24/7.

A doctor will review each request to assess the situation and determine whether a prescription or specialist referral online is clinically appropriate, ensuring that care remains safe, responsible and based on individual needs.

When requesting online prescriptions or eScripts in Australia, you will need to provide a few key details, such as your personal information and a short summary of your health concern or request.

It is also a requirement in Australia that, in order to receive an eScript, you must either have a Medicare number or an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). This is because your identity needs to be verified through the national healthcare system.

If you don’t have either of these, you can still have a telehealth consultation and receive a paper prescription instead.

Getting an IHI is the workaround if you want a digital prescription. You can still apply for an IHI online via myGov using an ID like a passport, even if you’re:

  • a visitor
  • an international student
  • not eligible for Medicare

Once you have an IHI, you can use eScripts like anyone else.

Even with access to the best online doctor Australia has to offer, script consultations are conducted privately on a one-on-one basis, ensuring a personal and discreet experience.

At MediLeave, users join a queue and receive a direct call from a doctor, allowing the discussion to remain confidential. All information provided is treated as personal and sensitive health data in line with Australian privacy laws.

To support data protection, we use 256-bit bank grade security and encryption to protect your personal and medical information throughout the consultation process.

For repeat prescriptions, your pharmacist will send you a new QR code after each repeat is dispensed. This happens until all the repeats are complete, so you will need to keep the new message until it’s time to get your medicine again.

If you accidentally delete a message with a QR code you will need to go back to your doctor to ask for a new eScript, just like you would if you lost a paper script.

Yes. Your details and script are kept private and secure through encryption (a secure way of sending information). Your script can only be ‘unlocked’ by a pharmacist.

Our team of Partner Doctors are fully registered Australian doctors who can prescribe any medication that is clinically appropriate for your needs. All our doctors follow AHPRA guidelines to ensure safe and responsible care.

Please note that some medications cannot be prescribed via a telehealth consultation such as S8 medications, controlled substances, narcotics or any controlled drugs and medications requiring close monitoring by a doctor. Our partner doctors reserve the right to decline prescribing any medication or refusing to provide Medical Certificates, based on their professional medical advice.

At MediLeave we uphold the highest standards of healthcare. Online Prescriptions will only be issued if deemed appropriate by our doctors.

There are various reasons why you may be declined access for a prescription, and the doctor has the authority to decline your request if they determine that it is not in your best interest or suitable for your condition. Other reasons could be due to contraindications, your medical history or the absence of a definitive diagnosis. In such circumstances, the doctor will recommend an alternative treatment that is better suited to you or recommend that you seek further assistance and advice in person.

1. First of all, check with the doctor that they have your correct details- a typo on your phone number or email can create this problem. Sometimes there might have been an issue with internet/ wi-fi connection at the moment the eScript was sent, and it might take a few minutes to come through to you.

2. If it still does not arrive, the doctor can double check on their side to see if there was an issue with sending it (this can happen if there is a problem with a person’s Medicare details or “IHI” number (individual health identifier).

3. If the issue still persists the doctor may try to “re-send” it to you, and see if that works.

4. If this still fails, please email our team : info@medileave.com.au for assistance.

Yes, most community pharmacies accept electronic prescriptions (escripts) An eScript is a digital version of a paper script, which the doctor sends you to your phone/email as a QR code or token. Whilst most pharmacies accept and can process escripts, it is best to check with the pharmacy if they are able to accept escripts as some small pharmacies, for example, may not be equipped to process escripts yet.

Yes, if you are a carer or guardian, although the patient needs to provide their consent to the doctor.

Our Partner Doctors cannot prescribe Schedule 8 (S8) or Schedule 4D (S4D) medications via telehealth.

Once the doctor approves your prescription during your consultation, the script is sent instantly via sms or email to you, within minutes
