Why You Might Need a Radiology Referral
Radiology referrals are essential when your doctor needs an in-depth look at specific areas of your body to diagnose or monitor a condition. These referrals lead to imaging tests—such as X-rays, MRIs, and ultrasounds—that allow your doctor to view internal structures without surgery. This non-invasive method not only helps identify health issues but also aids in tracking progress or confirming a diagnosis.
Get a referral in 3 easy steps:
- 1. On our website, request a Telehealth Consultation with one of our qualified doctors. Discuss your symptoms or health concerns.
2. Receive Your Referral: If request for a referral is approved, it will be emailed directly to you.
3. Visit a Radiology Centre: Take your referral to a radiology centre of your choice
What to Bring to Your Radiology Appointment
- Your Referral The referral letter from your telehealth consultation.
- Medicare Card A valid Medicare card to cover the cost of the imaging services or to claim your rebate depending on what provider you choose.
- Any Previous Imaging If you've had similar tests before, bringing previous images can help in comparing results.
Frequently Asked Questions about Telehealth Appointments
1. How do I obtain my radiology report?
Once your radiology report is ready, it will be sent to the GP that wrote the referral for you and stored in MediLeave’s medical record. We will then notify you via email and/or sms that the results are available. You will need to book a follow up telehealth consultation to discuss the results with a GP.
