1. Can I get a pathology referral without visiting a clinic in person?
Yes, you can receive a pathology referral through a telehealth consultation with one of our qualified doctors. The referral will be sent directly to your phone after the consultation
2. How long does it take to receive my pathology referral after the consultation?
You will typically receive your referral within minutes of your telehealth consultation, directly to your phone or email.
3. Can I choose any pathology centre to have my test done?
Yes, your referral is valid at any pathology centre operated by the same company, giving you the flexibility to choose a location that’s convenient for you
4. How do I obtain my pathology results?
Once your pathology results are ready, they will be sent to the GP that wrote the referral for you and stored in your MediLeave medical record. We will notify you via email and/or sms that your results are available. You will need to book a follow up telehealth consultation to discuss the results with a GP.
If you requested the MediLeave doctor share the results with your regular GP or another healthcare provider, you can visit your regular GP for your results. Alternatively, you can request that your regular GP contact the pathology laboratory directly to obtain the results.
5. What are MediLeave’s clinical governance protocols for managing pathology?
All consultations are conducted in real-time via telephone or video to assess the clinical need for pathology investigations. Our doctors take a thorough medical history and only order investigations that are clinically indicated.
Test results are securely provided via the lab to MediLeave’s medical records and are reviewed by the referring practitioner in accordance with RACGP standards. Results are discussed in follow-up consultations, and our clinicians are able to provide detailed reports to patients’ regular GPs to facilitate ongoing medical care.
